My contribution to the WSIS+10 Open Consultation Process:
Abstract:
UNESCO’s concept of a Culture of Peace remains one of the most promising strategies to work toward the values of the UN Charter. It is based on respect for cultural diversity as well as intercultural dialogue. Unfortunately, while there is nowadays a heated debate about personal identity on the Internet, there is little consideration on how to express cultural identity, which is a prerequisite for establishing a Global Culture of Peace. My proposition for the WSIS+10 Open Consultation Process is to reach out to those academic and entrepreneurial communites which are actually in the position to make next-generation social networking and other communication technologies happen.
