Our new agreement with Akamai marks a huge step forward for both consumer privacy online and compliance with regulations created to protect those consumers around the world. While much of the activity to date around compliance—with the US Self-Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising, the EU ePrivacy Directive, and the EU’s own self-regulatory effort—has focused on deploying “Ad Choices” icons (in ads and on sites) on a client-by-client basis, the Akamai-Evidon collaboration builds compliance—and consumer empowerment—into the internet’s core.
