URLs are the Right Identifier for Digital Birth Certificates

In my recent post Participation of Unconnected Objects in the Internet of Things, I imply some things that I wish to state more explicitly.

I believe that David Siegel’s concept of a Digital Birth Certificate is very important, and we should begin building ways of making them real.

Each Digital Birth Certificate contains the digital information reguarding the thing it represents. It functions as a PDS for things. Each one needs a unique identifier to facilitate participation in a connected world.

The Right Thing to make the identifier is a unique URL.

It provides both a unique identity and an interface. I hereby declare, by all the authority vested in me by Nobody In Particular, that this is now a requirement.
